Since the start of the business in 2007, True Potential have always had the ethos to ‘Do More’. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been very aware that there are thousands of people who could use a little help, be this socially, physically or financially.

Over the past few weeks True Potential and our financial advisers have identified those customers who were considered vulnerable during this period of isolation.

In partnership with local East Boldon based deli Blacks Corner and Newcastle delivery service Challenge Courier we have successfully delivered over £5,000 worth of hampers containing food essentials for those who may not be able to get to the shops themselves. The hampers were delivered locally to residents in Newcastle and some as far afield as Dorset, Londonderry & Glasgow.

We have received some really great feedback so far and it’s fantastic that it seems that the deliveries are making such a big impact. One client shared her joy in receiving the package:

“My financial adviser has delivered a box with lots of lovely food treats today. I am very thankful to you for this lovely surprise. It is greatly appreciated especially as I am unable to go out and doing my shopping as I usually do. Your special treats are a very lovely thought, thank you so much”.

In addition to the hamper initiative, True Potential raised £5000 for St Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham. St Cuthbert’s Hospice provides care and support to people with life limiting conditions, as well as their families and carers. They aim to help people to make the most of each day and enjoy the best quality of life possible. The True Potential staff raised the funds by completing a series of challenges throughout the week, including stuffing marshmallows into their mouths, planking, blindfolded drawing and even recreating scenes from Titanic. The ‘Virtual Challenge’ was filmed remotely and broadcast live to all staff. The staff at True Potential raised £2,500, which True Potential’s Senior Partners then doubled to donate £5,000.

Finally, to help those who may be struggling with isolation during this time; True Potential’s chairman David Harrison has set up the ‘Un-isolated COVID-19’ Facebook community to help tens of thousands of people across the country cope with the loneliness, stress, and boredom of self-isolation. The page is a place where people can come together to have a chat about whatever they want, it also provides daily good-news stories, fitness videos, interviews and weekly quizzes. David spoke about his reasoning for setting up the page, “If you like getting out and meeting people like I do, the prospect of being stuck indoors for weeks or even months isn’t very nice. So, I set this up to tackle one of the big side-effects of coronavirus, which is isolation. It’s not about me, but about bringing people together from all over Britain to support, entertain and inspire each other.”

With all the above we hope that we have made a contribution to helping people during this time. We’ll continue to provide support for those who may need it and constantly strive to ‘Do More’.
